Formerly Known As the Nine-acre Mixed-use Development in Downtown
Columbus Realty Partners announced the nine-acre mixed-use development in downtown will now be called Davis at the Square. The name is a nod to the development’s location on Davis St. and its proximity to the square in Historic Downtown McKinney.
Columbus Realty Partners, Ltd. has started construction on the mixed-use development located at the southwest corner of Davis Street and McDonald Street. As construction continues, some existing parking spaces may be unavailable. View updated parking lot maps.
At the Oct. 18 City Council meeting, the city held a public hearing to solicit feedback on the site and façade plans presented by Columbus Realty Partners, Ltd. for the development on the city’s nine-acre property. The city held an open house Sept. 15 at City Hall for residents to view updated renderings and elevations from Columbus Realty Partners, Ltd. of the nine-acre development in downtown.

At the February 16 regular City Council meeting the City Council approved a master development agreement with Columbus Realty Partners.
At the January 25 Work Session, City Council discussed the alternative of adding an additional underground parking level to the current parking structure proposed for the nine-acre project. A public hearing is scheduled for February 16 for public input on this item, as well as parking throughout historic downtown.
On January 19, City Council approved a non-binding Letter of Intent with Columbus Realty Partners for a proposed mixed-use development on the city’s nine-acre property that formerly was the home of the Collin County Courthouse, located at the southwest corner of Davis St. and McDonald St. (S.H. 5).
Per the non-binding Letter of Intent, Columbus Realty Partners will hold a public presentation(s) of design concepts this spring. If the City Council approves binding, final agreements for the project, construction would start no later than January 2017.
On November 3, Columbus Realty Partners presented to City Council a proposed land plan for a development on the nine-acre property.
In February 2015, the city issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking a partnership with an experienced development team in the redevelopment of an approximately nine-acre, city-owned property located in Downtown McKinney. Qualifications sought were for a team with a demonstrated track record, experience and financial capability to develop or redevelop land that is consistent with the city's adopted Town Center Master Plan.
The top two teams were selected to make a presentation to the City Council.
