Residents invited to weigh in on Collin County Transit expansion

Collin County Transit Survey

The McKinney Urban Transit District (MUTD) is looking for ways to expand the Collin County Transit Program. The MUTD Board is gathering input from the community to help in the decision-making process. Residents are encouraged to complete the online survey by Jan. 5.

“Transportation is an important service that helps improve residents’ quality of life. It promotes positive interaction between neighbors, stimulates upward mobility, and increases exposure to opportunities,” said City Manager Paul Grimes. “This survey will help determine what other transportation needs may exist in our community and how best to satisfy them.”

Residents will be surveyed on topics including current public transit uses, appropriate cost levels, what constitutes quality service, typical destinations and more.

The Collin County Transit Program is a partnership between the City of McKinney, the McKinney Urban Transit District (MUTD), and the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) to provide a subsidized taxi voucher program for senior citizens and disabled individuals. Other participating MUTD cities include Lowry Crossing, Melissa, Princeton, and Celina. Through this program, residents can enjoy the convenience of regular taxi service at a fraction of the cost to get to popular destinations such as grocery stores, senior centers, medical facilities, and libraries throughout Collin County.
