Garage Sales 

The City of McKinney allows residents two garage sales per address, per calendar year. You must allow one week free of garage sales between the two sales.  Residents can request a garage sale permit in two ways.

You can come to the Development Services Building at 221 N. Tennessee St., and a permit technician can issue a permit over the counter. The other way to obtain a garage sale permit is by way of this webpage.

To request a garage sale permit by email, please submit the following information to the e-mail address listed at the bottom of the page: 

• Name
• Address
• Date of garage sale
• Phone number

Once this information is received, a staff member will e-mail back a garage sale permit. Please note that if you send your request more than a week before the sale, the permit will not be processed until the week of the sale. If you have questions, please call 972-547-7400.
