Starting April 1, 2010, McKinney residents will reap the benefits of years of hard work by the McKinney Fire Department. A revised ISO Property Protection Classification (PPC) of Class 2 up from the former classification of Class 4 is effective on April 1, bringing savings on fire insurance to many home and business owners in McKinney. The Operations Division includes all emergency response functions out of eight fire stations. These stations are staffed 24/7 and are strategically located throughout the City.
Fire Prevention responds to requests for general fire inspections, service requests for possible unsafe conditions or fire code violations, and inspections of state-licensed facilities. Fire Prevention personnel interact with other City departments to help citizens with code-related questions and assist fire crews and property owners in the investigation of suspicious fires.
