Responsibilities: Under general supervision, receive requests for police, fire and emergency medical services; answer non-emergency and emergency 9-1-1 phone lines; dispatch and deploy public safety personnel to calls for service; operate various telecommunications equipment. Ability to Work any assigned shift (days, evenings, nights), must be willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime, as needed for scheduling purposes. Perform other assigned duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Entry level position; Skill to type a minimum of 40 WPM; working knowledge of Windows computer system; High School Graduate (or GED), At least one year experience preferred in: 1) High public contact that required decision making and problem solving under stressful conditions 2) multi-task environment involving data entry phones and/or radio communications. Possess Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Basic Telecommunicator and NCIC/TCIC or Full Access Operator or have the ability to obtain within one year from hire date.

Responsibilities: Under general supervision, receive requests for police, fire and emergency medical services; answer non-emergency and emergency 9-1-1 phone lines; dispatch and deploy public safety personnel to calls for service; operate various telecommunications equipment. Function in the capacity of specialist in charge in the absence of a shift supervisor when required. Mentor and/or Train new employees when required. Ability to Work any assigned shift (days, evenings, nights), must be willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime, as needed for scheduling purposes. Perform other assigned duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: All qualifications required for Communications Specialist I and additional: 4 or more years of public safety communications experience as a telecommunicator (including Police, Fire, EMS, Military or other applicable dispatch environment). Possess Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), (or ability to obtain within one year), and NCIC/TCIC or Full Access Operator (or ability to obtain within one year. Internal applicant’s most recent performance evaluation score must be a 3.5 or higher.
