Like many organizations, the City of McKinney is looking for ways to save in response to the downturn in the economy. As a result, the City is implementing several temporary measures to help balance our budget, including freezing or delaying the hiring of many of the newly budgeted and vacant positions. As we continue to evaluate our budget, we will determine which positions are critical to post and hire for, in the best in interest of the citizens.

ESL Coordinator- Part Time #0910-024

Salary: $16.52 hour

Responsibilities: Under general supervision, the primary purpose of this position is to coordinate an English as a Second Language program at the Library, including interviewing potential tutors, preparing class materials, maintaining statistics, teaching ESL, and communicating with other essential library staff members. This position will also be responsible for outreach to the neighboring community of the Hall Memorial Public Library. Must be able to work 20 hours/week including Monday and Wednesday evenings 4:00- 9:00.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED is required. Three (3) years previous experience and/or training in adult ESL; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. For teaching purposes, we prefer a native English speaker and for outreach purposes we prefer the knowledge of the Spanish language.
