When it comes to keeping our city beautiful and Unique by Nature, every little bit helps. The Stormwater Program offers many opportunities for residents to get involved and help keep our creeks and streams flowing clear.

Adopt-a-Spot - Care for Your City

Adopt-a-Spot Program is a joint effort between the city’s Parks and Recreation Department and Stormwater Management. This program was created to encourage citizens and community groups to adopt a park, section of creek, road or green space to remove litter from these locations. Learn more and sign up!

Education & Outreach

The City of McKinney offers presentations about stormwater pollution for any age group.

  • By pledging to pick up your pet’s waste at least once a week, you help keep bacteria and other contaminants from entering the stormwater.
  • Completed pledges can be mailed to: NCTCOG E&D, P.O. Box 5888, Arlington TX, 76005

Yearly Cleanup Programs

The City of McKinney hosts several community cleanup days throughout the year including Texas Trash-Off and Trinity Trash Bash.

Proper Yard Care Tips

Leaves, grass clippings, soil, fertilizer, pesticides and other yard waste that is not properly collected can run off into storm drains during a rain event. These pollutants can harm or kill aquatic life. Find out what to do with yard waste.

S.W.I.M- Stormwater Inlet Marking

  • One of the requirements of McKinney’s Stormwater Permit is marking of water inlets, and this can be accomplished with the help of residents.
